Hi, CFE now has 185 members and offers over 500 types of favour - so how to pick what to ask for? Newsletter July 2013 Favour Fayre
The Favour Fayre continues on Sunday 14th July 2.00 - 4.00 pm at O Donovan's Hotel Venue with all the usual treats and a full lunch and dessert menu! Italian cooking with Isabel
Italian cook and CFE member Isabel will be running a special Favour Academy cookery masterclass on 7th August. Learn how to cook authentic pasta and sauce and tiramisu, then eat it! All members welcome but book early. Spaces are limited. Full details here

Singing on the beach
Start you day blissfully by joining CFE member Anja on Inchydoney beach for a dawn sing. She will be on the beach between 8.00 and 9.00 am every sunny morning throughout the year. Expect to be transported. Details here

Family picnic Saturday 29th June!
Want some good old fashioned rural fun for all the family?  Then come to the CFE family picnic at Camus Farm this Saturday 29th June at 3.00pm. Expect haymaking, cider and a picnic, courtesy of Vic.  All very welcome.  Bring the family, and some food to share. Help with the hay a bonus.  Details and directions here

Doolally about what to do with the kids this summer?
Jillian is offering a great puppet workshop for the 7-12 year olds this summer.  Drop them off, they make puppets and you get to see another Doolally puppets production at the end of the week.  All for favours!  Want to know more, click here!

Fantabulous Showcase of CFE Skills and Services
This Sunday 16th June 2.00 - 4.00 pm is not just the next Favour Fayre, with all the usual treats including organic veg, nutritional snacks, salad lunches, chutneys and more.  In the venue at O' Donovan's there will also be 20 special stalls for you to find out about the great services and skills on offer in CFE.  Full details are here - Train your dog, fix your bike, promote your business, improve your health and fix any and every ailment or ache you might have.  Plus the CFE DVD and Book Exchange! Alexander Technique Workshop
Looking for "vitality, flexibility, poise, coordination and economy of movement, together with clarity and calmness of thought".  Look no further.  Book one of only ten spaces on the latest Favour Academy workshop - Katey Sleeman will run a workshop on how the Alexander Technique can help you on Wednesday 19th June - full details here

Sustainability on a Stick
Freecycle is coming to Clon.  A town-wide scheme, sponsored by CFE, will be launched in July.  An online noticeboard, supported by facebook and twitter accounts, will be home to a large virtual noticeboard on which people can post up things they want to give away - and give them away. An end to clutter, an end to waste, everything gets recycled and every object finds its natural home. If you are interested come to an open meeting in the bar of the Courtyard pub on Tuesday 25th June at 8.00pm.  Details and more info here

By popular request the regular coffee meet ups for CFE members and friends are starting again. Morag will be your host for chat and caffeine at O Donvovan's Hotel, Clonakilty. President finds favour with CFE

You probably noticed that President Michael D came to Clonakilty for its 400th birthday, and coincidentally the 1st birthday of CFE. His warm words for the town included two public tributes to the Favour Exchange - recorded in a news item here, plus some pics.

Astonishing new features on the website

The members survey has given us some great feedback which is all helping to improve CFE to meet the needs of an unanticipated 150 members!. Following the launch of Squirrel Search last month, we now have an updated and more user friendly Asks Notice Board- please give it a try. One click (well two actually) and you are posting. No unpleasant sign up. There is also an new Community Calendar where you can see upcoming CFE events and add your own news and events too. And if you are not sure where to find it all, follow the top tab to the new Members' Area where all of the essential pages are linked from easy to follow images. This includes a link to the new search bar where you will be able to search for members and skills more quickly and efficiently than ever before!

Co-ordinating Meeting

If you want to participate, meet up or lend your voice to the latest plans for CFE please come to our next co-ordinating group meeting at the Courtyard bar, 7.30pm on Tuesday 6th May. Up this week are a discussion of the survey results, and plans for the new upcycling project. News of the last meeting here, and details and agenda for Tuesday's meeting here

Favour Fayre

Last but not least, don't miss out on that goodwill that President Higgins talked about. The next Favour Fayre takes place on Sunday 12th May at 2.00 pm in O' Donovan's Hotel courtyard. All welcome, bring goods to exchange or trade for favours, or just come for the buzz. As ever, a fun social event as well as a way of exchanging goods big and small. Trouble searching CFE for skills, or just like the personal touch?  Liz is now providing a great new service, Squirrel Search. One click and the results of over 300 skills and 150 members will be  tailored to meet your asks, and with a friendly note.  And if it doesn't quite work out,  let Liz know!.  Want to know more? Putting the Home into Homeopathy
Following the success of Linda Coyle's great voice workshop, the favour academy continues at 7.30 on Monday 22nd April* with "homeopathy in the home" with Alice Glendinning.  Still time to squeeze in one more participant.  See here for details

T'Aint a Bird special with Tina Pisco
To mark the anniversary of the crash landing of an American plane in White's Marsh in 1943 Tina reads from and discusses her best selling novel "Only a Paper Moon" - a fiction based on these true life events.  Meet her in the convivial setting of An Teach Beag bar behind O Donovan's Hotel.   All welcome.  8.00pm Thursday 28th March.  Art meets life meets pint.  Details here.

Paddy Meets Morris

Please come with cheers and support for CFE members and friends dancing a special parade version of a traditional Morris Dance at this weekends Patrick's Day Parade.  CFE banner will be there to lead the team of dedicated and talented dancers. Kick off at 3.00pm - don't miss it!  Details here

Tain't A Bird US plane landing 5oth anniversary

No secret that CFE member Tina Pisco is also a talented author. Join Tina for a special public talk about her international best seller Only a Paper Moon. The novel is set around the landing of an American plane near Clonakilty 50 years ago and the real events following the arrival of the crew and their monkey.  The public talk will be at O Donovan's on 28th March at 8.00 pm and is a CFE special event as part of the T’Ain’t a Bird weekend celebrations. Germany discovers Ireland's answer to the recession

Deutsche Welle (Germans world TV channel - 60 milliion viewers) came to Clonakilty recently and filmed this fantastic film of CFE members at work, with beautiful shots of the town. The film, part of a series showing how Europe is coping with the recession in different ways, contains shots of at least ten CFE members - prizes for spotting them all!  Link here to see the film.

Favour Fayre

Hi, just a reminder that Sunday 10th March is the next CFE Favour Fayre.  Come to the market space behind O Donovan's Hotel and enjoy all the fun of the fayre!  Meet members and exchange goods for favours, or favours for goods - or both!

Special notice too of a meeting to plan the future fayres. Stay at the  end of the fayre for a chat with other CFE members at 3.30 to form a committee and make plans for the future of this fantastic event.  Help it reach its full potential.  Details all here - don't miss out!

We are also meeting at 1.00 to clean and prepare the space - all welcome.

On Saturday 23rd spend the day with experienced practitioner Alice Glendinning for a special one day course on using homeopathy for first aid in the home.  Details here

What better way to spend a cold wet evening, and earn favours, than to help with the administration of CFE! Book Club
After a great season the book club completes its 2012 run with Hans Fallada's "Alone in Berlin". But if you missed out, no need to again!. The favour academy winter season continues with a unique opportunity to learn the arts of blogger from CFE webmaster Bev.
